St. Paul Missions

At St Paul, we do service and offer charity to others as a church community.

Why we do the things that we do at St Paul? If we are to identify with Jesus and we are saying YES to him and his mission in our Baptism, then we too are called to ministries of service and Justice. Living as Christ did, seeking to live out and bring about equitable, trusting, life giving social structures and relationships.

Our annual mission projects include:

Charity is important.
    Meeting human needs is important.
        Feeding the poor is important.
Providing shelters for the homeless is important.
Providing toys for Children Locally and around the world is important.

How do we find out what is really needed to change things and really help.

We need to do exactly what God did. Jesus came and lived among us as one on us, identifying with our sin and failures, identifying with our human struggles and pain, saying yes to us. If we are really going to do the work of justice we need to really build relationships with the poor and homeless and the hungry and hear what they really need and want. Not what we think they need. If we are really going to be in mission to our community we need to be our there asking what is needed in the world to bring about more equitable, trusting social structures and relationships.

The Advent Conspiracy or Heifer Project help to change the economic structures of  villages to bring self-sufficiency and health. Fair trade coffees and teas that are available in the narthex at St Paul are helping to change the economical and social structure in those third world countries.

Feeding people through food pantries and Souper bowls of caring are good or providing

Christmas toys and gifts for children are good, and should be done.
